Our goal is to provide you with clear, thorough information about your treatment options so we can collaborate together and achieve the healthiest, most confident smile possible.

Pittsford FAQs

How long is the drive from Pittsford?

About 15 minutes by Monroe Avenue or 590. Shorter than most Pittsford families expect.

Pittsford has plenty of orthodontists. What makes this practice different?

Credentials you can check. Dr. Wood is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a voluntary certification fewer than 30% of orthodontists complete, and she teaches part time in the orthodontic residency at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health. She is also the only orthodontist in the practice, so the doctor who plans your case is the doctor who finishes it.

My teenager refuses metal braces. What are the alternatives?

More than there used to be. Clear ceramic braces, gold Iconix braces (surprisingly popular with teens), and Spark Aligner, which are similar to Invisalign aligners. Athletes in braces just need a mouthguard for contact sports; we'll point you to the right kind.

We already have a treatment plan from another orthodontist. Do you give second opinions?

Yes, and the consultation is free. Bring your plan or any records you have. Dr. Wood will take her own scan and photos, look at the bite rather than the brochure, and tell you plainly whether she'd treat the case the same way, differently, or not yet. Some families leave with a second plan. Some leave reassured about the first one, which is a fine outcome too, and there's no pressure either way.

I had braces as a teenager and my teeth have shifted. Do I need braces again?

Usually no, you don't need a full treatment. Relapse after long-ago braces is one of the most common adult cases Dr. Wood treats, and most need a short round of clear aligners rather than a full second treatment, followed by a retainer that actually gets worn this time. A free consultation will tell you how much movement is really needed.
